Game of Thrones: Winterfell and Co. are becoming tourist attractions

Once with Jon Keep snow on the battlements of the Black Fortress? For many "Game of Thrones" fans this dream could come true. Because the scenes of the saga are to be opened soon for visitors and film fans. And best of all: A long-haul flight does not have to be booked, because it goes to Northern Ireland.

After more than ten years, HBO ends its "Game of Thrones" shootings. What remains is the legacy of Jon Snow and Co. Not only the filming locations themselves can be visited. Also costumes, props, weapons, decorations and models are presented to the visitors.

The Black Fortress, where the night watch has long endured alongside Jon Snow in the freezing cold, will be one of the places. The set is actually located in County Antrim, also Northern Ireland. And the Belfast film studio Titanic film, in which some areas of Königsmund were filmed, should then open to the public.

From the "Slave Bay" to "Winterfell"

The smallest country in the United Kingdom can look forward to rising tourist numbers from 2019 onwards. But even before the "slave bay", the "twins" and "Winterfell" together with the family Stark Northern Ireland turned into the realm of "Game of Thrones", it attracted nature lovers and history lovers there.

After all, the wild landscape is riddled with a sheer number of castles and ruins dating back to Norman times, and probably more blood than all the Lennisters together. But it is also much less bloodthirsty. Cities like Dublin, Belfast and Derry invite you on a discovery tour. And who thinks he has seen everything, can make a trip to Iceland, Croatia or Spain. Because even here "Game of Thrones" was at home.
