The arrival error prevents many from being happy? maybe you too ...?

Many ways lead to happiness? probably at least as many as there are people on this planet. Too bad that there are so many stones lying around that keep us from our luck ... or at least make us stumble a few times before we reach it. One of these stones is called Arrival Failure and about which sometime actually stumbles. Problem: many are stuck with it. We put this stone in the first place in the way.

The arrival error? a fatal mistake

The arrival error is based on a very common misconception: that makes us happy to reach a goal!

  1. When I finally found a partner that suits me, ...!
  2. A gross salary of 50,000 and then ...!
  3. Only 10 kilos down, until ...!

Any interesting goals that we can set ourselves? but better not with the expectation that their achievement makes us happy. Because the moment of happiness, we experience it, only lasts a short time. And then we need a new destination.

The American-Israeli fortune-seeker Tal Ben-Shahar is virtually the discoverer of the "arrival fallacy". He defined the arrival error in his book "Happier" as follows:

As old-fashioned and esoteric as it may sound, what matters is that we do not make our inner happiness dependent on external circumstances, Of course it is good and important that we look for goals, after all we need something to do. But both as we pursue our goals, we should be happy and at rest as well as when we can not reach them. After all, all our little goals are only to help us move forward on our way, as many as possible? beautiful and also painful? Experiences make, grow and maybe leave a few traces. And if only we can clear one or the other stone out of the way ...
