Good news for mothers: the bridge part time is coming!

Mothers benefit the most

Most of the time it is the mothers who reduce their working hours because of the children: three quarters of all working women with babies and small children work part-time. After that, many women forcibly stay on their part-time job until retirement, even though their children are already long - because the employer refuses them full-time return. The result: little to no opportunities for advancement and a high risk of slipping into old age poverty.

Back to full-time job after up to five years

Now the Cabinet finally has the "bridge part time"? decided. Those who reduce their working hours no longer have to go into the part-time trap: from 2019, workers should be entitled to reduce their working time for a period of one to five years. After that, they have the right to return to their full-time position.

However, the right of return is subject to several conditions:

? The employer employs more than 45 people.
? The employment lasts longer than six months.
? There are no operational reasons that significantly affect the organization, workflow or safety in the workplace.
? For employers employing between 46 and 200 employees, there is a "reasonableness limit": even if the other conditions are met, these employers must only grant one in fifteen employees the right to partial bridge time.

So you apply for the new bridge part time

If you want to reduce your working hours, you must submit a written application to your employer to reduce working hours for a period of between one and five years. The application must be submitted at least three months before the beginning of the part-time period. Plus: There are no specific reasons (such as parenting or care) to be called.
