Candied oranges
Candied oranges are available in well stocked confectionery departments. With this recipe, you can also candied oranges yourself: 4 rinse off hot orange oranges, cut into thick slices. Boil 750 g of sugar and 3/4 l of water in a large saucepan. Place the oranges side by side on a wire rack and place in the sugar syrup. Cook in a low heat for about 15 minutes. Cover the orange slices covered in the syrup for 24 hours.
Remove the strainer from the syrup and drain the orange slices well. Place on a paper towel to dry (at least 2 days) in a warm place. The orange slices should now be hard and dry. If this is not the case, dry the slices in the oven again at about 60 degrees. Store airtight in the screw cap glass.
