Ben Affleck makes emotional statement: "Sign of courage, not weakness"

For 40 days he has been treated for his alcohol dependence in a clinic, now Hollywood star Ben Affleck (46, "Gone Girl") has spoken. The actor said on Instagram that he would now continue to be treated on an outpatient basis. He ended his stay in the clinic. Affleck also thanked the fans and his family for the recovery he received during the treatment.

"The support I've received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say, and it has given me the strength and support to talk to others about my illness," Affleck says in the statement. "Fighting dependency is a lifelong and difficult fight, so you never really get in or out of the treatment, it's a full-time job, I fight for myself and my family."

The statement goes on to say: "So many people have used social media and talked about their own experience of addiction, and I want to thank them, because your strength is inspirational and supports me in ways I did not think possible It helps to know that I'm not alone. "

Affleck had gone to the withdrawal clinic at the end of August. His ex-wife Jennifer Garner (46), with whom he has three children together, should have brought him there. He had to remind himself, Affleck wrote on Instagram, "that if you have a problem, it's a sign of courage to seek help, not weakness or failure." He wants to continue to accept this help "and I am grateful to all who are there for me, I hope to be an example to others who fight".
