Marianne Faithfull: Music legend reckons with the past

"At that time we were not perceived as people with brains."

The British singer and actress Marianne Faithfull (71) can look back over half a century in the music industry. She celebrated successes around the globe. However, she does not like to think back to the early days when she was discovered by Rolling Stones producer Andrew Loog Oldham in the 1960s. At that time, women were at best regarded as pretty accessories and even Oldham described them as "angels with big breasts", Faithfull revealed in an interview with the "Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung". Demensprechend she summed up the gladly glorified music decade with a single word: "terrible".
