Youtube star Kawehi: The one-woman band
Youtube star Kawehi does not need much when she records a new song: only with her voice and a small recording device, the Hawaiian produces multi-layered sound worlds that sound better than some big band with background singers and recording studio effects. Like few other artists, Kawehi masters the "looping": she imitates an instrument, such as a poppy beat, records it for a few seconds and lets the recording run in an endless loop. Already after the first recordings, this creates their unique sound, which our colleagues from Stern.de recorded in this video:

Their songs now have millions of viewers on the net, their YouTube channel is a huge success. Therefore, Kawehi does not depend on studios and record deals - if she wants to produce a new album, she turns directly to her fans, who produce a new CD through crowdfunding. In the meantime, Kawehi no longer exclusively sings her interpretations of well-known hits, but also own compositions - here you can listen to the current album:
