Video Streaming: That's what Warner, Disney and Apple will soon be seeing

When talking about video streaming in Germany, it's usually Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. Thanks to elaborate in-house productions as well as purchased blockbuster series and films, the two services are at the top of the popularity scale of German users. But the competition is not sleeping: In the coming months, many new providers want to push for the market. Probably the most well-known new arrivals are Disney, Warner and Apple.

There is something to see

The most interesting thing is certainly what content the new streaming providers will have in the program. Especially Disney trumps up with his Disney + offer powerful, because the company includes, among others, studios such as Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox. It can be assumed that many contents will be available exclusively there in the future. Among them, the "Star Wars" series, animation hits like "The Frozen - Totally unabashed" and the years very popular films from the Marvel superhero universe around the "Avengers".

There is currently limited information about Warner's planned streaming platform - not even its name is officially stated. Above all, the new service should focus on content from their own home, because to Warner include, among others, studios such as DC Films ("Wonder Woman", "Aquaman") and the US broadcaster HBO, in recent years, some of the most popular TV series ever produced - including "Game of Thrones", "Westworld" and "True Detective".

Meanwhile, Apple has launched its new video platform Apple TV + at the end of March with a lot of star power. Also in Cupertino one puts on own productions, which should run out of the competition to the rank. Several promising projects are currently in the making. For example, Oscar winner Julianne Moore (58) will star in the series adaption of Stephen King's (71) novel "Lisey's Story". In addition, Steven Spielberg (72) is working on a remake of his series "Incredible Stories," and Reese Witherspoon (43) will star in "The Morning Show" with Jennifer Aniston (50) and Steve Carell (56). Even Prince Harry (34) interferes. He is responsible for Oprah Winfrey (65), a multi-part documentary that deals with mental health.

When do the services come to Germany?

Disney is clearly betting on streaming giant Netflix - not just with its streaming portfolio, but also in terms of price. In the US, the month should cost the equivalent of around 6.20 euros, an annual subscription is around 62 euros. For Germany are still no prices known, but it should already go to the devil, if local customers have to pay significantly more for the offer. Accordingly, prices of up to seven euros per month or about 70 euros per year are expected. The whole thing should start in the USA in the fall of 2019. Not very much later, it should probably be so far in Germany.

Last October, it was announced that Warner would like to launch its service by the end of 2019. Since then, there is no news as to whether this timetable can be kept - and whether the offer also comes to Germany in time for the US release. WarnerMedia boss John Stankey (56) compared the planned offer at that time with a "collection of boutiques", all of which are to cover special needs at a high quality level. It is therefore to be feared that the price for the service could turn out higher than with Disney.

Similarly gloomy it also looks with more detailed information about Apple TV +. At the launch last month, neither prices nor a start date were mentioned. How much the service cost and when exactly he will go to the start, but will be announced in the fall. It is hoped that a publication still pending this year.
