7 uncomfortable truths about life that nobody likes to say

1. Life is unfair.

Already at birth it is unfair: We are simply born unsolicited and can not even choose our starting position. So it happens that some start life under top conditions that give them all the freedom to develop themselves? and others grow up under the harshest conditions, forcing them to fight for survival.

It would be fair if everyone had the same opportunities, but life has no sense of justice - only we humans have that.

What is good about it: If any shit happens to us, that's not a punishment we deserve or have caused ourselves, but (mostly) simple, unjust, bad luck. A sudden rain shower is not directed against you personally if it destroys your party outfit? shit just happens.

Also: Our time to shine! If the world is not self-righteous, we can try to make it fairer!

2. For no one, your life is as important as it is for you.

There are more than 7 billion people on earth and millions of other creatures. Even if the biggest disaster or luck happens to you, that's not even of the slightest importance to the overwhelming majority of the existent.

What is good about it: We can relax: even if we allow ourselves the stupidest embarrassment or the most annoying mistake, in most cases we do not do any really bad damage. From our perspective, everything that happens to us is incredibly dramatic, and the world continues unabated for more than 7 billion people.

3. You can not keep what you achieve.

Whether it's fond memories, successes you're proud of, deep relationships with people or material possessions? when you die, it's not yours anymore.

What is good about it: We do not have to pick up anything! We can look forward to happy memories whenever we can revel in them (otherwise they will fade over time). We do not have to humble our achievements and wait for the right moment to be proud of us. And we should rush into our relationships with all our hearts and spend our money on things that make us happy? before it is too late.

Imagine you are dying and dieting and saving money all your life.

4. There is no right way.

You can still reflect your decisions so well, weigh up all the options and think through thirty different ways? You will never be sure that you have made the best choice.

Nobody knows the meaning of life. Is it our job to laugh as much as possible? Should we love as intensively as possible? Or should it be our goal to see as much of the world as possible? No one knows that - even if it often looks to many as if they have a plan where to go.

What is good about it: We can not waste our lives or make them wrong. We do not have to earn our value and our place in the world by achieving any goals.

We are free to start with our lives, whatever feels right for us. We are allowed to experiment and try each other out. There are tools for a specific purpose that they need to work for. But we are not tools. We are humans - it is in our nature to give our best.

5. You are dependent on others.

Whether it's about building self-esteem and self-esteem, or practical life, we're always dependent on other people. Through their feedback we learn to assess ourselves and our impact on the world. This does not mean that the opinion of others is crucial for our self-esteem? but she's doing something with us, and that's why we have to deal with it and learn to act on it.
In addition, as members of our society, we are practically dependent on others on a daily basis, for example when we are looking for a job, are hungry, need clothes, etc.

What is good about it: We can rely on other people and do not have to go through life alone? because we are all in a boat. It is precisely this pronounced social sense that has brought us as a people so far: language, division of labor, art, leisure activities? All of this would never be possible in such a marked way without our wicked social structures.

6. You can not rewind.

Done has happened and there is no turning back. If we have said or done something that we regret afterwards, must we handle it? the past is unchanging.

What is good about it: One worry less! We already have enough to do with shaping our present and future. Imagine, we also have to clean up our past? we would go crazy there. We can learn from our past in peace without having to shape it.

7. Actually, there is no one who is there for you.

Yes, at first it seems like a contradiction: on the one hand we are social beings and depend on others, on the other hand nobody is there for us. What is meant, however, is that every human being is primarily responsible for taking care of himself. We can not expect others to enforce our rights and interests.

If we always humbly wait for everyone else to take a piece of cake, we never lose one and become sad. We all have the same right to be perceived and valued, but to claim it, we ourselves must - even if of course our relationships and our social fabric can help. After all, there are also people who can not take responsibility for themselves - others are of course available to help.

What is good about it: We have the right (and even the duty) to think about us? because everyone does that. Of course, we should not step on anyone's feet while we enforce our interests. But if we do not take care of ourselves, do we automatically mean it to other people? and basically THAT would be selfish. It is our job to make sure we are fine - not the others. We do not always have to be humble and put off, because in truth we do not do anyone any favor.
