Paraplegic Kristina Vogel shows fighting spirit: "I can still have children"

Track bike Olympic champion Kristina Vogel (27) made headlines last week with terrible news. It has been reported that she has been paralyzed since a serious fall during a workout in June. Now she gave a press conference at the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, where she is a patient. Vogel was confident about her future: "What shall I pity myself for? It is as it is"she explained there.

Kristina Vogel does not give up family planning

"I will not be able to walk on my own, that's a fact," says Vogel. Even if she is paraplegic, that does not mean the end of a possible family planning with her partner. "I can still have children, it works luckily," she quotes the paper. But now she is looking forward to "being scared to lie in bed again after just three months and to cook for herself." At the end of the week, she is allowed to go home, which has been a particular motivation for Vogel lately.

Despite everything, she has kept her humor. "Thanks to the hospital, I always get breakfast to bed, is also very pleasant," laughs the athlete. "But the first time to feel your own four walls and to be at home, even with my partner just to be really alone," she has driven. Vogel is combative: "I would like to go back to life and give up much, much help." For this purpose, a house inspection takes place on Friday, because some must be rebuilt so that they alone, for example, can go to the bathroom.
