Sew on arm warmers

This manual is by Judith Flad, seller of the shop Bjudiful on DaWanda.

You need this:

  • 2 stretchable fabrics, e.g. Sweatshirt, jersey, fleece (sewn in example from gray sweatshirt fabric with light blue jersey cuff.) Dimensions: approx. 20x22 cm (2x fabric A) and 20x20 cm (2x fabric B). The fabrics can also be cut to the same size (depending on the size of the hand, choose only 10 or 11 cm).
  • Woven ribbon, buttons, etc. - to beautify to taste

That's how it's done:

Step 1:

First, print out the pattern and transfer it to the selected fabrics. It is essential to note the threadline (parallel to the selvedge) and cut in the material break. The material break is the edge on which the fabric is folded.

Step 2:

Open the cut pieces and place them on the right side. On the right side, sew the two fabric pieces together with overlock stitch. Very narrow set zigzag would work too. When sewing, stretch fabric B evenly to the length of fabric A.

Step 3:

Open the sewn-together cut parts. Depending on your mood, you can use the fabric outside near or at the seam with, for example Embellish woven ribbon. (Remember: Sewing on the weave makes it impossible to stretch the fabric at this point!).

Step 4:

Fold piece of fabric lengthwise to right and sew over the open long side again with overlock stitch.

Step 5:

Apply fabric A to the right. While doing so, pull it over fabric B. On the open side, overcast both fabrics with overlock stitch.

Step 6:

Pull the last stitched seam inwards and you're done!

Now sew only the second cuff.

The beauty of the gauntlets is that they are wearable in various forms. You can see more of fabric A or fabric B and combine it very well with different outfits.
