Hair removal? which method suits you?

Who likes to wear fur in summer? At the latest with the first rays of the sun the leg hair disappears - unfortunately not by itself. When asked "How to remove?" Every year a discussion can be started. We do without it. Just look, what type of hair removal you are!

Type 1: Impatient and rather sensitive

Who wants the uncomplicated immediate effect, is right when wet shaving: super fast cut the blades disturbing hairs. Disadvantage: There are stubble after two days at the latest, and the skin is drier. Good for sensitive skin: the wet shaver with care attachment. Integrated into the device are donor pads, which develop a lush care foam. For those who do not want a new razor, there's shaving cream with nourishing ingredients that protect the skin from drying out.

The alternative: depilatory cream

For three to ten minutes, the active ingredient needs thioglycolic acid to dissolve the hair. Then wipe everything off. Because thioglycolic acid can irritate the skin, beauty companies are looking for ever gentler formulations. Tip: Hair removal cream for dry and sensitive skin that does not smell that way anymore.

Type 2: With a certain pain tolerance

Okay, it hurts more or less, but it promises smooth skin for almost four weeks: Waxing. A wax mixture comes either pre-fabricated on non-woven strips (such as cold wax) or as a heated paste on the at least 0.4 millimeters long hair. Press the fleece strip onto the skin and pull it off with a jerky movement against the hair growth direction. Important: The fleece strips always very flat, i. close to the skin, peel off, otherwise it will be too painful. The great thing about the method: The hairs are in the long run less and feel more delicate. Not so great: If the skin is sensitive, it reacts often reddened afterwards. New are therefore Waxing devices for the sensitive, for example, with electric warm wax rollers whose wax mixture is to soothe sensitive skin and now come along with a smaller order head: for narrow sensitive areas such as the bikini line. Two left hands? Then better go to the beauty salon and waxen there or ask for "Sugaring". Warm sugar paste is removed here in the direction of growth and in small movements. Nice side effect: Also hairs of two millimeters in length are caught.

The alternative: epilation

As with waxing, the hair is also packed at the root during epilation. In doing so, tens of tiny tweezers rotate over the skin, pluck hairs from 0.4 millimeters in length - and yes, it pulls. Electronic plugs try to distract the pain receptors with integrated massage balls before the tweezers grip. Epilation with water-resistant devices in the bathtub can also help; the warm water should reduce the sensation of pain. Cool idea: cooling mini fans in the device. Good visibility is ensured by integrated luminaires. Also practical are epilators with massage brush attachment, which should increase the feel-good factor and prevent ingrown hairs.

Type 3: Patient

Long-lasting hair removal promises the so-called IPL method for the home, in which the hair roots are sent by high-frequency light (Intense Pulsed Light, short IPL) in a kind of permanent sleep. Unfortunately, the hair does not disappear forever, they grow only very time-delayed, bright and very fine. This also applies to the Dermatologist's Prof IIPL treatment, which is more expensive overall but more effective and faster in results. In principle, for IPL: For red or light or gray hair, it does not work. Even liver spots and very dark skin are an exclusion criterion. Important for the home is that the device adjusts to the skin tone or can be set. Application: No matter which device you use, multiple sessions are required. The first three months every 14 days, then only in a relaxed three-month rhythm.
