Fashion Hero: Teleshopping with a top model

The mentoring trio: Uta Huesch, Claudia Schiffer and Sascha Lilic.

Immediately in the first broadcast brings André Maeder, the grumpy Swiss chief buyer of the department store chain Karstadt, the dilemma of Fashion Hero in a nutshell: "We are in Germany, here have to sell things." And that's exactly the problem. In the casting show, which is modeled on the successful US program Project Runway, a total of 21 young designers can present their designs. The mentors include former supermodel Claudia Schiffer, stylist Sascha Lilic and fashion expert Uta Huesch. But they must convince the buyers of the three major fashion companies Asos, s.Oliver and Karstadt. You offer sums of between 50,000 and 180,000 euros for the collection parts shown? and, as the program was recorded, bring them to their shops or the online shop the very next day.

Next come the designers, whose fashion can be sold well. This makes it as expected for the audience as boring: Sure, that the Asos-wife Anne Rech rips the brightly patterned bomber jacket designer Marco Dumbell under the nail. It is no surprise that the sloppy sweatshirts of the Hamburg duo Kunstreich & Holst are in good hands with s.Oliver. After all, with the young Sicilian designer Riccardo Serravalle and the excited Sahra Tehrani are the first sympathy to find out how she needs every good casting show.

Excitement does not want to pay for these fashion auctions, which is also due to the unspeakable presentation by Steven Gätjen. From fashion, the man understands nothing, according to wooden moderated by the evening. The cumbersome styling tips that appear during the presentations ("drop neckline - great for a small bosom") do not make it any better. Only Mrs. Schiffer brings in a little bit of specialized knowledge. Patiently she explains to the unsuspecting Gätjen what a Jeggings is (half jeans, half leggings) and identifies the sleeveless vest of a designer as Gilet.

Otherwise, the Mentor trio is limited to finding the designs "super sexy" or commenting on them in variants of the following dialog:

"That's really great." "Yes, great."

Somehow it is not surprising that fashion people like to reproach superficiality.

Of course, in an industry where the offspring often struggles to survive, such a program is a real chance to earn money. The parts will sell, no question. However, this form of tele-shopping is not entertaining to look at. If you want to see a real fashion show, you should switch to one plus this evening. In It's Fashion the well-known blogger Jessica Weiß shows that fashion can be much more than "sexy and super great".
