Norwegian coat with elk motif knit
Instructions for a Norwegian coat with elk motif in sizes S / M / L
Material: 600/650/700 g petrol wool, color code 0288, 300/350/400 g light brown wool, color code 0039, quality "Carpe Diem? (70% merino wool, 30% alpaca wool, 90 m / 50 g run length) by Lang Yarns, knitting needles 4 and 5.
Note: It is possible that the given wool can not be bought anymore. In this case, you are looking for a similar quality. Please note the specified run length and do a stitch test!
Federal pattern (BM): With needle no. 4 .: 2 sts right, 2 sts left alternating.
All other patterns: With needle no. 5. Smooth right (right rows, back rows left) with the following patterns: Box Pattern (KM): 1st to 4th R: knit in light brown. 5th round: * 4 M light brown, 2 M petrol, repeat from * always. 6th row: knit like the 5th row. 7th through 10th round: knit in light brown. 11. R: * 1 M light brown, 2 M petrol, 3 M light brown, repeat from * always. 12th round: knit like 11th row. Repeat 1st to 12th Rs. Before the next pattern change end with 4 R in light brown. Tip: When jacquard knitting, cross the threads on the back evenly. Rhombenmuster (RM): Knit 15 R in jacquard pattern. Color and mesh according to counting pattern. Always repeat the repeat in width. Moose pattern (EM): Knit 39 R in jacquard pattern. Color and mesh according to counting pattern. Tip: To avoid loops that are too long on the back, cross the running thread about every 5 sts with the knitting thread. Dot pattern (PM): 1st + 2nd R: knit in petrol. 3rd round: * 5 M petrol, 1 M light brown, repeat from *. 4th to 7th round: knit in petrol. 8. R: knit as the 3rd R, but the light brown M staggered (* 2 M petrol, 1 M light brown, 3 M petrol). Always repeat the 1st to 8th Rs.
Knitting tension: Knitted in PM yield 16 M x 21 R = 10 x 10 cm.
Back: Cast on 80/86/92 sts in petrol and knit 15 cm in sts, continue in stocking st. Knit 38 cm from waistband continue in RM knit pattern at point A / D / G, then continue knit in EM, start pattern at point A / D / G, work repeat in width until point B / E / Repeat H and then the repeat once, at the same time decrease 16 cm from RM for the armholes on both sides 3x1 sts in every other row = 74/80/86 sts. For the neckline at an armhole height of 22 cm, bind off the middle 18 sts and bind off both sides in the following R 2x2 sts, at the same time bind off for the shoulders at an armhole height 22 cm in every 2nd row 3x8 / 3x9 / 3x10 sts.
Left front: Cast on 37/40/43 sts in petrol and knit 15 cm in sts, continue in stocking st. Continue to knit 38 cm from waistband in the RM, start pattern at point B / E / H, then continue in the EC, starting the pattern at point C / F / I and knitting the repeat in width, at the same time 16 cm Slice RM for armhole 3x1 sts in every 2nd row = 34/37/40 sts. After the end of EM, continue in stockinette st. Cast off 1x2 and 8x1 sts in each row for the neckline at an armhole height of 16 cm. Bind off for the shoulders at an armhole height of 22 cm in every 2nd row 3x8 / 3x9 / 3x10 sts.
Right front: Knit the same way as the left front piece.
Sleeve: Cast on 77 sts in petrol and knit 8 cm in sts, continue to knit 2 rows with needle size 5 mm, then knit in sts, start pattern at point C. Continue knitting in the PM. For the arm ball, remove 23 cm from the waistband on both sides in each R 10x1 sts. Then cast off the remaining 57 sts.
elaboration: Close the shoulder seams and for the collar in petrol from the neckline take 100 sts (each front piece 27 sts, back 46 sts) and knit 15 cm in the sts. Then cast off all sts loose. Pick up approx. 198 sts on each front side (including collar) (on sts from each 2nd row inc 1 st in stocker st, otherwise sts in st each row) and knit 5 cm in BM. Close the side and sleeve seams and sew in the sleeves.
