Miracle cure or hocus-pocus? So should cotton pads for pain help
If there is one thing in life that we would like to be able to do without, it is probably painful: no matter if stomach ache, nasty cramps or first signs of a cold. So far we have started the fight against homesickness with home remedies that were specifically tailored to the particular symptoms and (above all) freed our grandparents from suffering.
Recently, however, the claim is in the room, that a single miracle remedy should disappear as six magic symptoms like magic. It is a cotton pad soaked in alcohol.
Yes, you read that right: what you usually use to remove your make-up is supposed to make the pain go away too.
This is needed:
Before you start, make sure you have cotton pads and at least 50% strong alcohol in the house. Preferably, ethanol or rubbing alcohol should be used.
That's how it works:
- In the first step, you soak the cotton pad in alcohol and then express the excess liquid well.
- Now you press the wet cotton pad in your navel - lays at best still a towel on your stomach to fix.
- The first effect is reported to occur after just three to five minutes: the muscles slowly begin to relax. After 30 to 40 minutes you should free your navel from the cotton pad.
- Repeat this process twice a day.
What kind of pain can I stop with that?
If it comes to the current claims, the drunken cotton pad is a very versatile paramedics: fever, typical cold symptoms such as coughing, runny nose and dizziness, but also stomach and abdominal pain are among the nasty ailments that you can allegedly successfully fight.
We keep that from the method:
Without trying it, it sounds pretty hocus-pocus - but as I said, we have not yet put our pain in the trusting hands of a cotton pad.
