Facebook surprise: "Hey, are we maybe twins !?"

We've probably all experienced this before: Kindergarten friends, student exchange acquaintances or ex-love reports out of the blue on Facebook, ask for a network and clog the timeline at worst with conspiracy theories or blurred food photos. Others want to network for professional reasons.

Samantha Futerman from Los Angeles therefore did not think much further when she got the message on Facebook from a Frenchwoman named Anaïs Bordier. Samantha is an actress - probably this European fashion student wanted to establish contacts to the scene in LA.

In fact, the request turned out to be the surprise of her life: Anaïs asked if she could possibly be Samantha's twin sister. The Frenchwoman had found a video of Samantha on Youtube and was amazed how similar you saw this American.

Trailer: "Twinsters", documentary about the twins who found themselves on the internet

With the help of a crowdfunding platform, Samantha shot the documentary "Twinsters" about her story, which will be released later this year.

The two women immediately felt connected, though they lived at different ends of the world. And there were other parallels besides the similarity: Both had their birthday on the same day and were released for adoption in the Korean city of Busan.

After hours of conversations on Skype, where the two became more and more similar and shared virtually identical children's photos, they finally met in London for a DNA test. The result: Samantha and Anaïs are twins. After they had not known each other all their lives, they had suddenly found their other half.
