Big city idyll in danish

Emergency braking. With squealing tires keeps the bike in Stockholmsgade in the Copenhagen district of Østerbro. Bjørn Bruun apologizes for the five-minute delay. Tomorrow is a shoot with the international top model Carmen Kaas, so the hustle and bustle, he explains and snaps his boy smile. This is so amazing that you would have forgiven him half an hour late. Bjørn Bruun, 43, used to earn his money as a model. Today, he leads one of the most successful fashion companies in Denmark: Since its founding in 1995, the number of employees of "Bruuns Bazaar" has risen to around 150 worldwide, the turnover is estimated by the journal "Textile Industry" at around 20 million euros, but for housing inspection The boss comes by bike. That's nice, typically Danish, it's called "Jante-Loven" and means nobody should feel better than everyone else.

In the study of Bjørn Bruun may also be flogged

So the huge apartment of the Bruuns with their three-winged windows and the view of the park is of course only rented. Bjørn radiates the confidence of people who have already achieved a lot in their lives. With his 31-year-old wife Ivona, Slovak, and also an ex-model, he has the children Finn, 5, and Sienna, 2. When the magazine "Mom" appeared in Denmark, of course, his wife and son beamed from the title. A picture book life on the ground of the facts. And it's just completely covered with children's toys - at least in Finn's room. Loose and unpretentious, the nine rooms of the Bruuns are furnished. Finn's sticker collection on the windowpane is just as accepted here as the carefully arranged French soaps in the bathroom.

Only at second glance does one see that people living here with good taste and money have their eyes fixed: in the dressing room there are ready-to-wear dresses by Prada, Chloé and Marc Jacobs. Sienna's room is predominantly furnished with children's furniture from the noble Belgian babies. Established brand "Théophile & Patachou". Finn gallops across the wooden floorboards between Danish furniture classics by Poul Kjærholm and Hans Wegner and jumps his father on the back. "Dad, how many hair do you have on your head? 100?" - "No, much more," is the answer, "at least 5000." But Bjørn Bruun does not know that exactly.

Especially the children love the red "Living Tower" by Verner Panton, of which Vitra produced a limited edition in 1969. Bjørn Bruun likes to buy furniture and browse antique markets. "Furniture designer was my real career aspirations," he says. He never completed his architectural studies, which he started after school. "I could not draw well enough," he explains and smiles: "Actually, it was also because I am generally restless and always want to do many things at the same time." For example, fashion entrepreneurs will be like his Swedish grandfather. The hang in oil paint in Bjørn's office in the city center. Guests sit here on a black, leather-covered Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen, "a model from the first production line," explains Bjørn Bruun. There are photos of his children hanging on the wall, two dumbbells are lying on the floor, designers are drawing on the winter collection 2007 next door, and downstairs in the boutique, Kronprinsensgade 9, there is a clearance sale.

The red "Living Tower" is especially popular with children.

The relaxed elegance of Bruuns Bazaar's dresses appeals to many women, even Crown Princess Mary regularly comes by the studio to try on. The secret of his international success is shared by the label with some other, currently fashionable, collections from Scandinavia, such as Filippa K or Acne Jeans: The design is always innovative, extraordinary and loving, but the clothes cost only a fraction of the price of international designer fashion. Copenhagen is becoming more attractive year by year than fashion city. More and more foreigners are coming to the twice-yearly fashion week. "A real hype," says a delighted Bjørn Bruun. Did he expect the success of his company? "Yes!", He answers quite freely. "It always depends on whether you want something very much, I always wanted to see people in my clothes, and if possible worldwide."
