Babybox: Now also Scotland gets the free basic equipment!

Finland is doing school

These boxes have been in use in Finland for over 80 years: a free all-inclusive package that all parents receive from the state for the birth of a baby. In the box are baby clothes, diapers and other things that the child needs in the first weeks of life - a total of 80 items that have been proven to lower infant mortality rates in the country. The trick: The box can be converted into a baby crib.

Scotland is moving!

According to the British "Independent", this service will also be available to parents in Scotland from 2017 onwards. Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon stressed that this is an 'important symbol of equal opportunities'. The program launches on 1 January, when the first parents in selected pilot regions get their boxes. The nationwide distribution should follow in the summer.

And when are we off?

In Germany, a similar service is not planned until further notice. That's a shame - but at least there is now the possibility to order a similar box.
