Chester Bennington: Moving Words from Linkin Park on His First Day of Death

"To Our Brother Chester," Linkin Park ("In The End") opens a post on Facebook, in which the band commemorates their singer Chester Bennington (1976-2017), who died exactly one year ago. "A year has passed since you died - a surreal cycle of grief, sorrow, rejection and recognition," it continues. Bennington was found dead in his home on July 20, 2017. He had committed suicide.

Nevertheless, his former bandmates Mike Shinoda (41), Brad Delson (40), David Farrell (41), Joseph Hahn (41) and Rob Bourdon (39) feel as if Bennington is still with them and they "with your memory and your light". He left "a lasting impression" in their hearts. "We are eternally grateful for the love, life, and creative passion you have shared with us and the world, we miss you more than words can express."

"It still hurts"

David Farrell also posted an old snapshot of Bennington on Instagram and once again published his own words. Last year he had to think of the singer every day. "I miss you and it still hurts not to have you here," the bassist continues. "I had decided not to speak at your funeral because I could not formulate the words, to express appropriately how I felt then."

Even today, he still struggles to properly express his feelings. There is so much he wants to say that he does not know how to put it. "But I certainly know one thing," Farrell continues: Bennington is still loved and missing.
