Anthony Hopkins: Star describes "cold" relationship with his only daughter
As an actor, even Sir Anthony Hopkins (80), who has even been knighted, enjoys the highest homage. However, the British Oscar winner ("The Silence of the Lambs") has never been able to make friends with his most important role - with him as a father. As the 80-year-old has now revealed, according to the page "Radio Times" with remarkably open, but also shocking words, his own and only daughter Abigail is like a stranger to him. That does not seem to bother him at all.
So the Hollywood star does not even know if he's already a grandfather. For over 20 years he has not exchanged a single word with his daughter. "People are falling apart," so Hopkins' seemingly emotionless attitude to his alienated offspring. "Families separate and (...) continue with their lives, I do not care, one way or the other." When the "Westworld" star was answered that this was a very cold attitude, he is said to have replied: "She is cold because life is cold." Hopkins' 48-year-old daughter is said to have adopted the name Abigail Harrison years ago, according to the Daily Mail, in order to free herself from her father's big name in the film industry. She is the star's common child with Petronella Barker, who raised Abigail on her own after her relationship with Hopkins collapsed. Abigail was only four years old at the time. A later approach of the two, when she was in her mid 20s, was obviously and finally in the sand.
