The vacuum cleaner robot - my best friend?
I have always dreamed of him, because I hate to suck dust. Since there are robots for it, I wanted to have one. That's why I finally ordered one. "My new best friend," I think, touched as I unpack him. His name is a bit complicated, but it amuses me and also reminds me of the delightful home help that my parents had in their 80s: "Neato Botvac Connected".
What a diva!
Then I have it in my hand: a black gem. I am getting very nervous with joy. Until I turned on Neato (that's what I call him lovingly). Because my new friend is complicated, yes, a real diva. Unfortunately he does not find language, time and day automatically. The manual promises that I can just relax with him. Maybe later. First, I accidentally set "Suomi". That's Finnish. At least seven minutes have passed since I finally found out how Neato communicates with me in German. My first feeling of being in love leaves something behind.
You can do it...
Fifteen minutes later it starts: Neato is smart, he also comes past chair and table legs. At the beginning. Then he tangles, cables are his rivals, with whom he does not realize. He bites like a little dog, he stops, I have to help him. But he's also brave and kind of cute, struggling from the wood to the frayed rug and back down. Yes, it reminds me of a small animal. I want to stroke him.
He also makes sounds like an animal, like a big one. I think he is too loud. Theoretically I can steer it with my smartphone or tablet, I do not even have to be in the same room. But I am just now. Somehow I had imagined that the vacuum cleaner robot is quieter than my old conventional model, but it is not. His hum is a bit more elegant and subtle, but it still gets on my nerves. The first three minutes I still pretend that it was not so bad, after seven minutes I find it difficult to ignore, after twelve I turn it off.

It's like the men: Of course that's not so bad with the toothpaste tube mentioned above. Not that he rarely clears the dishwasher and snores loudly. But at some point it's just too much. That can be a small matter. For me it's the noise. Neato is too loud for me. In addition, he is simply too expensive with its 569 euros. When ordering, it just went through with me. If, then right, I thought.
I admit it, the expectations were high, the disappointment so preprogrammed. It is not easy for me to do what I have to do: I pack it in its box and send it back. But maybe that's just like the men. Maybe I have to try again in the future. With another model that suits me better.
