The age warts on the skin

What happens in the body?

From the age of 40, skin growth can occur. Why such age warts (seborrheic keratosis) form, is not clear. Some doctors suspect a genetic predisposition, others are of the opinion that a permanent sun load promotes the emergence of such corneal growths and tiny hornbeads in the epidermis. Women and men are equally affected. Age warts are the most common, benign tumors of the skin. Unlike normal warts, age warts are not contagious, because it is not a viral infection. However, since they are virtually indistinguishable in their size, shape and color from skin cancer, they should always be examined by a dermatologist before you have them removed.

How does that show?

Age warts have a diameter of 1-2 centimeters, feel greasy and can occur individually or flat on the whole body. They are pea to coin size, light or dark brown or black colored. The often grooved, smooth surface of these skin nodules may look spherical, flat or waxy.

How can I prevent this?

Since the cause of aging warts is not clear, there are no proven preventive measures.

Here you will find more information on the precautionary check.

What can I do if I already have it?

Age warts are benign skin growths that do not necessarily need to be treated. But if you want to remove them for cosmetic reasons? or if your dermatologist can not rule out a cancer? There are different methods for this. Lasers, icing and scraping are the most commonly used. However, age warts can still occur again and again on other parts of the body.
