Blake Shelton: He has lost his "friend and hero"

The country world mourns the death of singer Earl Thomas Conley (1941-2019). The musician died at the age of 77 years. He became famous in the 80s for hits like "Holding Her and Loving You", "What I Say Say" and "Once In a Blue Moon". Country star Blake Shelton (42) confirmed via social media that Conley died in Nashville on Wednesday.

Shelton called Earl Thomas Conley his "favorite singer, hero and friend" on Instagram. The two should have been close friends for years. In 2002, they worked together on Shelton's hit "All Over Me". In his post, the 42-year-old wrote: "My heart is completely broken today, unfortunately I have to tell you that Earl Thomas Conley died this morning". He also posted a photo with the singer.
