Table decoration: Served for friends

Feel-good round

Ideal table decoration for a meal with friends: plates of fine, but different porcelain, which are put together to a three-course place setting. This looks stylish, but not too formal - and you can host many guests even without a huge service. Colorful glasses, napkins wrapped in a gift ribbon and a printed table runner on a white tablecloth complete the good-mood look of your table.

Dinner plate uni: Reichenbach "Color"; Dinner plate pattern: Royal Copenhagen "Blue Fluted Mega"; Bread plate: Hutschenreuther "Zwiebelmuster"; colorful glasses: Theresienthal "Colors"; Wine glasses: Luminarc; Cutlery: Villeroy & Boch "Delice"; Table runner, napkins: unique Luckner

So you cover for three courses

The three-course place setting fits well for a special, but not too official occasion. It consists of the spoon for the soup and knife and fork for the main course and the dessert cutlery above the plate. Bread plates with bread knife are on the left side, wine and water glass on the right.

So you cover for five courses

The five-speed place setting is perfect for official occasions - or if you want to really shine. Start inside with knife and fork for the main course. Next to it are fish cutlery or another normal cutlery, with the fork set a little higher than the others. That looks more elegant. Then on the right is the spoon for the soup and on the outside the knife and fork for the appetizer. Bread plates and knives are left again, red wine, white wine and water glass are on the right. And above the dinner plate the dessert cutlery.

And in the morning there's brunch!

And at the same time, it's easy going: The guests serve themselves from the buffet, and you can improvise at the table according to your mood. Just take a look at what you have in the cupboards and arrange a colorful still life out of different plain-colored dishes, carafes and glasses. A classic white tablecloth gives the whole a clear frame.

Glass carafe, cups and bowls in turquoise, white plates: Iittala; remaining dishes: Mud Australia; Glasses: Flamant "Gianna"; Chair: Vitra "Panton Chair"; Napkin: Apart; Rest: private

So there's no jostling at the buffet

While brunching is casual, building up the buffet is worth a bit of planning, so that guests can quickly find their way around and get to their treats without stress. Something like that: right all starters, above main dishes and soup, left dessert - dishes and cutlery each.

Fold napkins - that's how it works

As a bed for cutlery: 1. Fold napkin in half. 2. Fold about a third of the front down. 3. Fold in half. 4. Fold again to hold 5. The cutlery can move in.

As tulip or bishop's cap: 1. Fold napkin on a triangle. 2. Fold both sides to the middle. 3. Put about two-thirds of the lower tip up. 4. Fold the small corner down from the front triangle.

5. Fold the side corners to the back. 6. Turn over and fold the pages back. 7. Pin the napkin at the back.8. Turn over and fold the tips down. Finished!
