Otfried Preußler: Nobody knows this story yet

From the estate of Otfried Preußler (1923-2013) appears a previously unknown adventure by the robber Hotzenplotz. On 17th July the publisher Thienemann publishes "Der Räuber Hotzenplotz und Mondrakete". Thus, in addition to the three volumes of the children's book classic after 45 years, there will be "another and completely new story for the first time, which was illustrated anew and in color by illustrator Thorsten Saleina," it says.

According to the publisher, Preussler's daughter, Susanne Preußler-Bitsch, came across a hitherto unknown stage play by her father by chance. She was immediately clear "which treasure" she had lifted. The play entitled "The Ride to the Moon" is said to have originated 50 years ago and to contain all the famous Hotzenplotz figures: Kasperl and Seppel, the grandmother and Sergeant Dimpfelmoser, as well as the protagonist of the robber Hotzenplotz. From the model of the author Preussler-Bitsch has developed a "narrated puppet theater between two book covers", which will now appear as a new Hotzenplotz band.
