Just do not be dazzled: sunglasses

CRYSTAL CLEAR

Whether mineral glass or plastic? Sunglasses should have good, polished glasses without streaks, otherwise there may be a headache.

GLASSES WITH FILTERS

So-called polarizing glasses prevent unpleasant reflections on smooth and reflective surfaces such as water, white sand or asphalt. Ideal for athletes (eg from Fielmann, Rodenstock, Silhouette).

SELF-TORN GLASSES

They adapt to changing light conditions and darken in strong onnenlicht. However, they are only limited when driving: Since the discs filter out a large part of the UV rays, they do not sound completely. And when you drive out of or into a tunnel, the conversion can take a while. They are also made individually according to prescription (eg at Fielmann).

ANTIGLARE

The darker the glasses, the higher the glare protection manufacturers have divided into four categories (see inside bracket). For us category 2, for beach and mountains 3 and for glacier 4.

YOU SHOULD DO YOUR EIGHTH

Absolute must: 100% UV protection! A guarantee for this is given by the CE mark and the inscription EN 1836: 1997 on the inside of the spectacle bow. In addition: The glasses should not be too small, the straps should not be too narrow, otherwise UV rays can penetrate from the side or from above into the eye. In the case of nickel allergy, do not use a conventional metal frame, but switch to sockets made of allergen-free titanium (stand up) or plastic.

D RATHER NOT!

Yellow, orange and also green glasses, which only let one color pass through monochromatic glasses), distort the contrasts. Signal colors, z. B. at the traffic lights, then can not be properly perceived. It is not always clear whether a pair of glasses is fit for public transport: If in doubt, ask a good optician to advise you.

BEAUTY TEST: Sunglasses with special glasses

Christine Koischwitz, editor of the Cosmetics Department, is wearing reading glasses at work and testing three different lens types:

Gradient lenses: Above dark, below bright? sounds practical, looks fashionable. But when I go down stairs I look down, suddenly the same level looks different. That irritates.

Self-tinting glasses: When light is on, they turn dark, but even when I look into the blazing midday sun, the glasses stay rather bright. I'm blinded. The tint is not enough for me.

Polarizing glasses: Especially good for driving: they improve the sharpness and can block dazzling horizontal radiation? very pleasant. My favorite.
