Grinch Cookies: Step by Step Instructions

The Grinch. Everyone knows him, everyone has met him before and ... we even dare to say that every (Christmas-Magic-person in charge) has ever felt him deeply in his heart. If the Christmas holidays overburden and you have no desire for the associated stress, then you can even be grumpy Grinch itself. But, we know how heartwarming the Christmas time can be, how much the children enjoy fairy lights, punch and (small) presents and how nice it is to prepare that joy. Therefore, the Grinch shows us this year only in the form of the new movie Universal Pictures and as a sweet grim cookies!

And if now one or the other parent says: "Waaas, more Su ßkram !?", then he was a little reassured, because we have tried at least a few (reasonably) healthy ingredients inconspicuously with smuggle: whole wheat flour, birch sugar , Flaxseed and pssst ... spinach powder! Do you feel like conjuring up such biscuits? Then here's the recipe and a step-by-step guide for you. The recipe was provided to us by the blogger Janina Kraus from the family lifestyle blog kleinSTYLE.

Green birch biscuits

Ingredients:

180 g wholegrain flour (spelled or wheat)

110 g birch sugar (xylith)

1/4 tsp salt

3 teaspoons of spinach powder

110g soft Alsan (vegan butter)

1 small "Flaxegg" (mix 2 teaspoon ground flax seeds + 2 tbsp water and let it swell briefly)

1 tsp vanilla extract

You also need a pear-shaped and / or oval cookie cutter.

That's how it works:

First mix all the dry ingredients with a whisk until you have an equally lightly green flour mixture.

Now add the remaining creamy ingredients and mix everything with a Ru? Hrgera? T to an even dough.

Now put this on a baking paper, cover it with a new baking paper and roll it out evenly. The best way to do that is, if you lay down two thin wooden strips left and right under the rolling pin. 5mm are perfect here. We want to keep the biscuits as even as possible, so that the glaze does not run down later.

Now the dough is still in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes. Make sure it is flat! If he is a little firmer, you can easily cut out your desired shapes.

Then you bake the biscuits 175 ° top / bottom heat approx. 12-14 minutes, Before decorating, leave it on the tin for a short while and then chill on a wire rack.

In the meantime you can already prepare the glaze:

Herbal Royal Icing

We need three different consistencies: for the outline? Pipe, to foot? Flood and a mix for individual details - so-called Icing for 20 sec (If you go through the icing with a spade, it will take about 20 seconds to form an even surface again) and four to five colors.

Pipe Ingredients:

225 g powdered sugar

1 1/2 tbsp (equivalent to 4 1/2 tsp)

Aquafaba (chickpea or bean water)

1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1 1/2 tsp of water

Flood Ingredients:

225 g powdered sugar

1 1/2 tbsp (equivalent to 4 1/2 tsp)

Aquafaba (chickpea or bean water)

1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1 1/2 tablespoons (equivalent to 4 1/2 teaspoons) of water

20 sec icing ingredients:

225 g powdered sugar

1 1/2 tbsp (equivalent to 4 1/2 tsp)

Aquafaba (chickpea or bean water)

1 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1 tbsp water

Besides, you need:

6 piping bags

several bowls (at least 6) with the smallest possible opening

6 couplings cling film

Rubber bands or clip fasteners

1 spray bottle

That's how it works:

Sift the icing sugar into a soot bowl to obtain a glaze without goblets. Press a lemon out.

Mix all the ingredients together with a chopper and a whisk attachment and let the mixture stand up vigorously for about 5 minutes. The Aquafaba reacts like ice cream and gives the icing its nice fluffy texture.

Now each time the corresponding colors start. We need a little black, white, possibly Ivory and a good dose of green Pipe, a small portion of white and dark green as each Icing for 20 sec, and neatly green as Flood.

Each individual portion you get then on a piece of clear film, you wrap it well and pull this "glaze roller" in a piping bag with coupling, cut off the protruding plastic wrap and fasten the Tu? Llle. Now close the bag with rubber band or clip. For the Flood offers a spray bottle on.

You can also prepare cookies and glaze one day in advance. Be sure to store the cookies airtight at room temperature and keep the glaze in the refrigerator, also airtight.Because you do not want that the carefully mixed consistencies change again.

These colors you need to decorate

The important thing is that you take enough time to decorate. Because in between you have to let the biscuits always longer time to dry.

How to decorate:

First of all, we paint the outlines with greens.

Then follow the eyes (white 20 sec Icing), which you can make different detail by injecting it with a dark green into the still fluid white and, if desired, a black pupil. A white point of light gives the last touch.

Now everything has to dry for a while.

Next comes the green flood, either in the front or in the back of the head. But never at the same time. So fill a floor, let it dry and then fill the second one.

Here already the second surface is filled

When the face is dry, the details follow in dark green, such as eyebrows and nose. Apply a small dab here and pull a minimal point down with a toothpick.

Gently spread the glaze with the toothpick

Finally, apply Ivory (or White) to the mouth.

If you want, you can suggest the coat a little bit by painting a line with the green pipe and fraying it with the help of a brush.

Sometimes it can happen that the fluffy glaze collapses on drying and leaves small holes behind. With the eyes you can simply fill these up again.

And since we want to meet the Grinch with a lot of love, you can perfectly bake a few high-contrast red hearts on the same principle. Allow the glaze to dry thoroughly before either wrapping the biscuits in individual gift boxes or storing them in the cookie jar!

And now prepare someone grumpy sweet Christmas greetings!

The packaged biscuits look so sweet at the end - a great gift!
