What is she doing? Her winter collection was inspired by Eskimos, with anoraks like walking igloos, in the summer her colorful, voluminous dresses will turn into a flower meadow that will make you happy and give you plenty of leg room to play ball.
Where does she come from? Born in Saïtama, Chisato studied at the famous Bunka Fashion School in Tokyo and was discovered by Issey Miyake after graduation. From 1977 she worked as chief designer of the collection Issey Sports, which in 1983 in I.S. Chisato Tsumori Design was renamed, and founded her own line in 1990, which showed her first in Tokyo and since 2003 in Paris. In 1999, she opened her first boutique outside of Japan in a former studio in Marais on Rue Barbette.
What inspires Chisato? She travels a lot. And her memories, she likes to tell, are stored in small drawers inside her. When she designs a new collection, she brings these treasures out again and mixes them together.
Why do we love her? Because she does her own thing and dances on her nose with her wildly patterned, large dresses of French tailoring tradition.
