For months we caressed, oiled and spoiled the growing belly. And right now, of course, we only have eyes for our baby and hardly any time for anything else. At the same time, our midsection should still receive further attention. So that we have enough strength as a full-time mom and feel good about it.

  • Respect! For what this body has done incredibly! It's crazy how everything can stretch and change with the growing life. Do not expect to look up quickly after giving birth as you did before. It may take months to look anything like that again. Do not compare yourself with others! Every woman and her body is different. Trust the natural healing powers and love each outer signs of motherhood. It's a miracle!
  • Care: Even after giving birth you do not have to do without your creme routine. However, more careful than before. After showering or bathing, do not completely dry off the skin, but massage the body oil on the still moist skin. So the moisture can move in better. Almond oil, for example, goes for baby's bottom and mom's belly. After a birth by caesarean section, however, the suture should be kept dry and clean. Special creams can help with healing. Avoid sun and solarium. And do not forget ? This scar is also a proud sign.
  • Get wet! Now you need a lot of power! And that is why a wholesome diet is particularly important. Waiver is not announced. Only if it can harm the child through the mother's milk. And that does not mean garlic, chili and citrus fruits. Everything the mother can tolerate is good for the child as well. Also Kohl and Co. On caffeine, however, must be respected. Alcohol and nicotine harm. Your gas is called water now! But please do not drink too much: A too high fluid intake reduces milk production.
  • Move: Start very slowly and listen to your gut feeling. The midwife certainly shows some exercises for the puerperium. Outdoor walks at your own pace are good for baby and mom. And if the baby in the stroller cries too much, try a baby carrier or put on a worn shirt? the delicious smell of mom (and dad)? in the car.
  • Baby Steps: In the recovery course, you'll notice what's good for your body and what your stomach can do again. There are also plenty of yoga and sports classes especially for the time after birth. With and without a baby! It is important to train also the lateral and straight abdominal muscles gently.
  • Mama-Workout: If you have done sports always and also during pregnancy, then you can also start slowly again. Depending on the type of birth and progression, the midwife and / or the doctor should first be asked for advice. Suitable sport helps against later incontinence and strengthens the stomach and back. This also prevents tension caused by carrying and breastfeeding.
