Game of Thrones: The dragons made it to the real animal kingdom

Since the mother of dragons might be mighty proud: The three shingled children of Daenerys Targaryen alias actress Emilia Clarke (32) have made it but smooth into the real animal kingdom - albeit much smaller than in "Game of Thrones". As the "Omaha World Herald" reports, a professor has diligently been inspired by the HBO series to name three newly discovered beetle species.

Thus, in the future, the Latin versions of Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal be found in reality, although not all in the same place of the earth. The newly discovered species Drogoni and Viserioni are native to Colombia and Ecuador, while Rhaegali has made himself comfortable in French Guiana.

That was the reason for the names

Incidentally, Professor Brett Ratcliffe had two reasons for the naming. For one thing, he is a big fan of the show, but mainly wanted to catch his eye with it: "Choosing those names makes you want to have a little bit of celebrity and publicity." After all, there are still many undiscovered animals in the world and every fourth of them is a beetle.

For too long fans of the series have to wait no more, before they can see the return of the TV dragons and thus the grand finale of "Game of Thrones". In April 2019, the final season of the fantasy series launches.
