For some people, the road to self-realization is rocky. Others are shitting here and there. Jaimie Wilson's path led to testosterone treatments, surgeries, iron workouts, and plenty of discussion and justification. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old is on target: He feels comfortable in his body.

Jaimie was born a woman, but never found herself as such. "I've always portrayed myself as feminine, not because I wanted it, but because I felt compelled to please others," he writes on Instagram, "when I went out, some people responded with 'that's not you'." He first realized that we are not what others see in us - only we know who we really are.
The transformation: how Jamie transformed himself
On his Instagram account with almost 370,000 subscribers Jamie shows the world his transformation: From the first testosterone syringe on the beginning of beard growth to the workout in the gym. Today Jaimie is proud of what he is and what he has achieved - and also wants to be a role model: "I have decided to be visible in order to encourage other people and to show them: it is worthwhile to be yourself . "

More than a transgender: Jaimie, the country singer
Today, Jaimie's Instagram account no longer just tells the story of a transgender. Rather, we follow there a young - admittedly very attractive - man who feels comfortable in his body. A country singer with soul in his voice, who loves to perform and inspire people with his music. An adolescent who is looking forward to his 21st birthday and wants to party. A guy who loves his dog. And a person who can teach us all.

What we can learn from Jaimie
Even if Jaimie's transformation is one of the most extreme one can imagine? all that Jaimie has gone through and understood on his way, everyone has to realize sooner or later: that not others can define us, but only ourselves. That we should not be ashamed of who we are. That real friends support us in our decisions. And that the way others treat us is only about them, not about us. Jaimie's path to self-realization was blatant - but in one way or another, we all have to go.
