Dress code in the office: for more color and variety in management

Last week, the BARBARA team had a day when we all wore a dress and looked forward to this seemingly collaborative outfit choice. We shot a nice team photo as a reminder. So I briefly wondered what men actually feel like on the management floors of this world. Do they come to the office in the morning and say, "Oh wow, we all have a suit today. Let's take a picture of this incredible coincidence.? Very unlikely. The men's dress code has been given exactly the same for decades, even in color the choice is clear: the main thing is dark.

Dress code for women in the office: freedom or agony?

Do they really have it now? Or do we women have a good time to make new decisions every day and be able to dress for work according to our mood? I would say: we have a harder time. Of course, more options also mean more chances to really spoil it. We can do a lot wrong. Is the skirt too short, the trousers too colorful, the dress with the flowers too cute or is the top too low cut? While men's dress choice is never an issue, women often discuss or comment on who wears. See also our pure women's office at Barbara? We could have just ignored the clothes situation. It could not have been noticed. But it is natural to us.

The right dress code as a success factor in the job?

Of course, there is also the question of whether the outfits of a woman are also crucial for their success. Even if she adheres to unwritten laws, such as that the skirt length should not be shorter than a hand's breadth above the knee. Is a woman more successful when she dresses like a man? That's dark in a suit, flat shoes, just no skin? the best still a short haircut? At least, it leaves little room for discussion outside of their competences. In fact, I believe that in many industries it may still be the case, and perhaps it is easier. So advises Dr. Peter Modler in the book? The Arrogance Principle? career-oriented women outfittechnisch restraint. After all, do you have enough other topics to deal with? There you would make it with a confident choice of clothes only harder. Is that so?

Confident also with dress and high heels in the office

But with the advent of more and more self-confident women? also in the executive floors? Of course, more and more ladies are joining in, who prefer their own wardrobe. Also dare to wear color, dare make-up and strutting with their high heels over the corridor. Simply because they do not want to pretend. Suddenly, the blazer in pink is intentionally worn to stand out in the dark blue of the men and just not subordinate to them. Just a few years ago, you've avoided exactly that to be just as competent as the men to classify yourself. Admittedly, it takes courage to keep your style and wear what you want it to be? Of course you should keep a certain respectability. But I personally would welcome more color in the otherwise often drab office life. Also gladly with the gentlemen. Dare!
