Of course I have to measure under the breast, but I usually recognize the cup size even under the jacket; I then just hand customers a matching bra into the cabin. A customer took it, put it on, saw that it was a perfect fit, and then looked at the size. "I've never worn them," she said - and she was gone without buying him. The right size is so important; what I sometimes see when I'm on the beach in summer or under tops in the city, horrible.

Beatrice Kietzmann: That's right, but the lady was a bit obese, so in case of doubt, the straps pull the bosom a bit upwards - smoothing out the small bacon rolls automatically. Incidentally, more than once, I had a howling bride, who in a rather obese figure had spiked her into a strapless dream dress that was so tight that she could not possibly wear a bra underneath.
ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: In your job it's all about preservation. Are you often the soul comforter?
Beatrice Kietzmann: You can say that. Sometimes I think I could almost put a piggy bank next to the cash register - for tips on psychological counseling. No, but seriously: For many women, with every piece of clothing they take off, they reveal a bit more of their souls. Many also come with marital problems and then there are some who have just had a separation behind them. They were never in a lingerie shop and now want to buy something out of frustration. Not least because they think: I have to go back to the open field, to the market so to speak.
The other day a very young mother came, who was heartbroken, because her breast from breastfeeding had become so small and something was hanging.The said: Tonight I go out with my husband for the first time in eight months, because I want to look pretty, but that's probably over now, right? Others are looking for what I always call "checkered lilies of the valley" - something they have seen on television, but that does not exist. In some cases we have already made one of two bras. Most customers I can divide into two camps: those without children and those whose children are almost grown-up, who are now thinking of themselves again. The young mothers with children rather neglect, I often have the impression.
ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: Do most women want to show what they have or do they want to hide their breasts?
Beatrice Kietzmann: The North German women are relatively prudish, I have found - they are looking for something simple in white or cream and just no tip. The further south they come, the more colorful they want it. They are also happy about the refined details. In France or Italy it has always been this way: The bra does not have to sit doll, the main thing, he is super-chic.
