Christiane van Heyst: 4 questions to the entrepreneur

Christiane van Heyst is one of the founders of Barons & Bastards, a men's outfitter focusing on Italian and Italian tailoring and wardrobe. This year, Christiane van Heyst is a participant in "Entrepreneurs of the Future", the initiative of the Association of German Businesswomen, Global Digital Women, the ChroniquesDuVasteMonde Academy and Amazon, and is helping to make their business more international.

That's why I'm an entrepreneur:
Since I was 14 years old, sales and retail have been part of my life and almost my favorite pastime. As a sidepreneur? Part-time, I can dedicate myself to this passion. In our family business? Barons & Bastards? We are fully concerned with building our men's clothing label. There I am responsible for everything digital and creative, such as the establishment of the stores, the brand identity, social media, etc.

That drives me every day:
The support and the exchange with my family. The great team and the great people who support and inspire us. To push ahead, to build something, to learn new things and to create something that was previously considered impossible, gives you wings, so to speak. Entrepreneurship also requires a certain versatility to handle things easily, talent or not! All the better, if you can put your talents into action. I can virtually sell my passion? devote a part of my time every day.

This is my tip for women entrepreneurs and those who want to become one:
Digitization offers a whole new world of opportunities today. You have wonderful opportunities to start a small business, because you can find a lot of tools and tutorials on the net, every question that arises can be googled and will be answered. In theory, this can be done well next to the job, if you take your time and prepare well. Often, one already has responsibility for a family and is no longer financially flexible. Especially in Germany today you are very well supported and there are fantastic networks, such as the ChroniquesDuVasteMonde ACADEMY. That requires a lot of discipline. Meanwhile, I prefer webinars and knowledge tools to the evening TV program and miss nothing. Personally, however, you will have to cut corners for a while, which should be discussed carefully and weighed up with the partner.

Do I stand up to this challenge? Entrepreneurs of the future ?:
By? Entrepreneurs of the future? you have access to a very good network. The versatility allows us to inspire and share each other. We started from scratch and quickly learned a lot from the professional coaches and guides. At the moment we are in the process of opening up the market in the UK, which we find totally exciting, especially as our Heritage is English and we work with many great traditional brand labels.
