British Independent Film Awards: "The Favorite" scores a whopping ten awards

This film has lived up to its name in the British Independent Film Awards: "The Favorite" by director Yorgos Lanthimos (45) and stars like Emma Stone (30, "La La Land"), Rachel Weisz (48) and Olivia Colman (44) has won a proud ten awards. Including the best movie, the best director (Lanthimos), the best actress (Colman) and the best supporting actress (Weisz).

The script of the historical film about the British Queen Anne (Colman) was also awarded. The five other prizes were for the camera work, the costume design, the production design, the make-up and hair design and the best casting. Only the also nominated as supporting actress Emma Stone went out empty.



By the way, these were not the first prices for the drama. Shortly after its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2018, there was the Silver Lion for the Greek director Lanthimos and the honoring Colmans as "Best Actress". "The Favorite: Intrigue and Insanity", which may now also make some hopes for the Oscars in the coming year, will come from January 24, 2019 in German cinemas.
