Beautiful: beauty tips for the photo

Look good, despite the norm

Okay, beauty is not everything. Especially not since the passport photos have to be biometric-compatible (biometrics = automated person recognition based on physical characteristics). Here are the most important regulations plus tips on how to get along well.

Keep your head straight

That's the rule: look directly into the camera. Do not tilt or turn your head. Our tip: Do not pull the chin too far to the chest, otherwise wrinkles will occur.

Free brows

That's the rule: the face should be clearly recognizable, the brows should be free. Our tip: If necessary, take hair backwards. Brush pony tips with hairspray or gel to the side.

Smile forbidden!

That's the rule: a neutral facial expression, closed lips. Our tip: Looking interested in the camera, as if listening to a good friend.

A matter of color choice

That's the rule: a light background that contrasts well with face and hair. Our tip: choose neutral gray funds.

What does not fit ...

That's the rule: Face height and image size (35 mm wide x 45 mm high) are precisely defined. Our tip: have a photo taken at a new office machine, they have passport templates

How to make a good figure

Even if the photo shows only the face - a good overall body tension lets you look more dynamically into the lens. Tense the belly and butt, stay straight in the back and take the shoulders down.

D rather not!

There should be no reflections in the face. Therefore, the glasses must not reflect - in case of doubt better settle. Cover pressure points with concealer and some powder.

The right make-up kit

This way, the complexion in the photo looks pretty clear: compensate for irregularities with concealer; knocked around the mouth, the lip contour looks even. Then apply a matte foundation - compact powder in the skin tone fixes better than transparent powder, which can reflect white and make the complexion chalky. Important: emphasize eyes! So brush your eyebrows and lash your eyelashes vigorously with a volumizing masque, opt for matte natural shades in beige and brown shades when using the eyeshadow. Instead of using dark lipstick, it is better to use Gloss, which makes your mouth look bigger.

Tips from the expert

Three questions for Iris Martin, Astor make-up artist, image consultant and lecturer at beauty schools:

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: What to look for when making up for the passport photo?

Iris Martin: Do not apply too thick! The whole thing should look natural; serious, not glamorous.

ChroniquesDuVasteMonde: Is it possible to visually balance the face shape, for example with rouge?

Iris Martin: Yes. If the face should appear more flat, give it directly to the cheekbones, it should look narrower, laterally below. A broad forehead can be so "narrowed": shading from the hairline to the brows, but not to the temples, shadows make you look tired

How do I trick the eye make-up? For small, deep-set eyes, give something light to the moving eyelid, and in the case of loopholes, shade the lot directly above it. Tight-eyed eyes visually diverge when light eyeshadow comes into the inner lid and darker outward. When the eyes are apart, it is the other way round.
