Andy Anderson: The former drummer of The Cure is dead

The London-based musician Andy Anderson (1951-2019) died on Tuesday at the age of 68 years of cancer, as reported, among other things, the "Rolling Stone". The death of his former band colleague confirmed also The Cure founding member (since 1978) Lol Tolhurst (60) on his Twitter page.

"With a heavy heart, I have to announce the demise of a Cure brother, Andy Anderson was a true gentleman and a great black humorist who he kept until the very end, proof of his beautiful spirit on the last journey thankful that we knew him, "said Tolhurst. Anderson was 1984 drummer in the popular to this day British band. During his career he also collaborated with many other superstars such as Iggy Pop (71, "Lust for Life").



A spark of hope

Just a few days ago, Anderson personally made public in a touching post via Facebook that he was "terminally ill with cancer." A bit of hope still swung with - "Chemotherapy and radiotherapy will be discussed in the next few days [...]" -, but apparently it was different.

In addition to the diagnosis Anderson also wrote a request to his followers: "Please no pity, just be positive, for me it is just another life experience and hurdle, in which you have to make another choice in life, be cool, I am very optimistic and positive about the situation, "wrote Anderson ten days ago.
