Felicity Huffman: She pleads guilty to college bribery scandal

Actress Felicity Huffman (56, "Desperate Housewives") wants to plead guilty in the university bribery scandal, along with twelve other parents and a teacher, as reported US media in unison. "I totally accept my guilt," Huffman said in a statement. She feels "deep regret and shame" and "take full responsibility for my actions". She also wants to accept all the consequences.

Huffman is accused of paying $ 15,000 for her daughter's answers in a college entrance exam. The actress is charged with fraud, her husband William H. Macy (69, "Shameless") does not have to answer. As previously reported, in the worst case Huffman even faces several years in prison.

She also apologizes

In the statement, the actress apologizes to her daughter, family, friends, colleagues, the educational apparatus, and especially to "the students who work hard every day to be admitted to college," as well as to their parents. Her daughter was completely unaware "and in my misguided and highly wrong way, I cheated on her [...] My desire to help my daughter is no excuse for breaking the law or being dishonest."

Businesspeople and celebrities are said to have paid substantial sums in the US to give their children access to higher education. The bribe scandal hit the United States last waves high. Against the payments should have been cheated in different ways. Huffman's colleague Lori Loughlin (54, "Fuller House") and her husband Mossimo Giannulli (55) are said to have even paid up to $ 500,000 to accommodate their two daughters at the University of Southern California.
