Oscars: Does the next ceremony have to be without a host again?

Although this year's Oscar awards sparked much controversy because it took place without a moderator - but the concept could hold. As the industry magazine "Variety" reported, the US broadcaster ABC Entertainment hinted at a repeat in the show 2020. "We are very proud of the creative result of the show," commented TV broadcaster Karey Burke. You do not want to mess around unnecessarily with the format.

Already in March, Burke had called in an interview with the "Hollywood Reporter" the version without a moderator as "success formula". A repetition is "likely". On the other hand, she did not rule out a return of moderator Jimmy Kimmel (51) in the future: "I say no to no."

Kimmel moderated the awards in 2017 and 2018. Comedian Kevin Hart (39), who was scheduled for 2019 as a moderator, had canceled in December in the dispute over earlier, supposedly homophobic remarks. Finally, the respective laudators performed through the show.

How will the Oscars cope without a host? (April 2024).
