Advent calendar: Practical tips for the filling

It's fun to give away a self-made advent calendar. But let's face it: finding 24 small gifts that are as surprising as possible and that really bring joy to the recipient can also be quite exhausting. So it's good that the ChroniquesDuVasteMonde community has been thinking about how to best design the Advent Calendar for many years. Meanwhile, the discussion has grown into a true treasure chest of ideas - here are just a few suggestions at a glance (or click here to come directly to the "Advent calendar strand" in the community).

Drinking chocolate, three postcards with lines to him, Ü egg, marzipan figure, mini samples, a coupon for Nicholas for his online game;), lighter, a notebook, hand cream, lip care, cuddly socks, a photo keychain with picture of me (there are nanunana for under 1 euro, I think great;), Sweet, twice scratch-off.

A few years ago, I sewed small bags of dark red felt, which I now use every year. Are hung on the curtain rod with a golden fabric ribbon. The numbers I painted with red paint pen on small golden Christmas tree balls, the balls hang on the gift ribbon. The little bag for Santa Claus has the shape of a boot and is a bit bigger, the one for the 24th is also a bit bigger.

It was a bit of work, but I just had to do it once. The whole can then store the rest of the year and save a lot of space.

The gifts themselves, I wrap even in some pretty paper. First, you can then not prematurely reinspitzeln, secondly, a little larger parts then look up from the bag, without it looks strange.

If you still need ideas: I usually buy a silver and a gold pin, so you can always do well in the run-up to Christmas. This time a so-called calligraphy pen. Also (I have daughters, because it is easy, but maybe there are the one or the other man who likes something :) Bath salts, shower gel, nail care set, candle, tea, nice cards. Rest is filled up with sweets.

I always put poems, stories, songs and recipes from / about Christmas in the self-made Advent calendar. Curious newspaper articles or funny / contemplative photos are also included.

Either I write them off in writing or I copy them and stick them on a card / paper. What fits. That depends on the length and my time.

Often I pack the ingredients (if possible) for the recipes into previous packets. so that z. b. For the punch recipe already all spices are available.

So you can make the Advent calendar quite 'cheap'.

The "problem" that some things are too big for the bags, of course, I have. But I solve that differently every year. Once I have Hiding the part on each day before the recipient came home. In the bag was then a picture of the hiding place in very very close shot, so he had to puzzle for a while, where to look. I do not know what I'm doing this year. Let's see when an inspiration hits me. Maybe I just put a little chocolate or something in the appropriate sachets so they are filled, and then put the too big particles on the window sill under the calendar on the respective day.

Or, if you live together, you could just put notes in the calendar that describe where to look for his gift, eg. B. in the favorite cup.

My calendar is always packed in pretty wrapping paper. The numbers are different every year, this year there are salt dough forms with cookie cutters and the numbers on it. Looks nice and is very cost effective. Due to the different size contents, nothing else would be suitable for me. Finally, everything nicely draped in a pretty box - ready!

Maybe you have an idea for a slightly spiritualized, fit, viellesenden, music-loving, dog-crazy, sweet-toothed 75-year-old? So far, I have his favorite sweets, playing cards, dog treats, homemade Christmas tree ornaments, a mini aftershave, candles, music that I've burned for him, and a cigarillo.

However, gifting old people is a challenge in and of itself, and then 24 individual gifts. I have to ponder, but thanks for the idea!

Spontaneously, I remember:

- beautiful postcards (which you can send) - nice pen - home-made biscuits (I'll hire my kids for) - small bottle of rum (my dad likes to make some rum in the tea in winter) - a puzzle, divided into several bags (hint from "Analuisa")
