Why I do not believe in God - and so have found peace

A friend of mine is a convinced Christian: bibelfest, active in her community, prays regularly. She is a strong and confident woman. In addition, she is tolerant, smart, modern and easy to handle. I know that God and her faith give much strength to my friend. It is the best example that a life with God can work wonderfully.

God probably can not do it with everyone

But there are also examples that show that this does not always work so well. What about the crusades and wars that have led and lead people in the name of God? What about the men who do not shake hands with women because God forbids it? Or with people being discriminated against for their sexuality because they are supposed to be against God's will?

What about the Jehovah's Witnesses who are not participating in our democracy while waiting for the Kingdom of God? What about my mother, who was discriminated against as an illegitimate child in a Catholic environment?

God has always just let me down

It did not work at all with God and me. As a kid, I tried it with total dedication. I prayed every night. I thanked God for all the good that has happened to me, and advised him to protect me from things that scare me and that I do not feel up to.

Today, the little girl from back then is a bit sorry for me. It did not realize how much it helped to make it good. In terms of protecting, God has been hanging me down anyway. Whenever I had to deal with a crisis, there was not God for me, but a person close to me. Or I came out of the crisis on my own.

I first found inner peace as an atheist

I take that 100 percent off my back, but God always stood in the way of building self-confidence, Since I have decided that God is for me a very old idea of people to answer tricky questions, I feel liberated, relieved and stronger. I rely more on myself and my mind than on God.

God should worship people.
Finally, they created him.

Inner peace (or at least the most peaceful state I know) was first discovered as an atheist.

Whether people who live wars in God's name would be as positively positive as me if they were told that God is just the 2000 year old version of Albus Dumbledore, I doubt it. However, it would make discussions with them much easier.
