Thekla Carola Wied: With the patchwork family to the top

Actress Thekla Carola Wied celebrates her 75th birthday on 5 February. She was born as Thekla Wiedmann in Breslau in Poland today. The family had to flee in 1945, got lodged with relatives in Berlin and was "poor in poverty", as Wied remembered in an interview with the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" in May 2018.

Although her father was against it, she became an actress. "Even as a child, I rebelled against the authority of my father, who forbade me to learn the acting profession, and I was a stubborn and courageous child, which has remained with me to this day," says Wied in 2015 in conversation with the news agency spot on news.

When she was under the age of 21, she applied to the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and was accepted. Already for the first television role in the drama "Track of a Girl" (1967), she put on her stage name: The "Carola" is the first name of her sister, the "Wied" the first part of her maiden name.



A first award was also given for her portrayal of the mentally ill student Hanna: the film band in gold as "Best Performance - Female Lead". Three Golden Cameras, two Bambis, a Romy and a Bayerischer Fernsehpreis should follow so far. Many of them were for their series hit "I marry a family" (1983-1986, ZDF).

Popular TV mother

As a warm and attractive fourfold mom Angi Schumann she played in the 1980s in the audience hearts. In the popular TV series she brought three children into the patchwork marriage and got with Werner Schumann, played by Peter Weck (88), a fourth.

Although Thekla Carola Wied does not have a biological child, her husband also brought three children into the marriage. "I have a great relationship with my stepchildren," confirms the actress in an interview with the "Bild am Sonntag" in 2013.



Father of the three is Hannes Rieckhoff (74), ex-Lord Mayor of Backnang and former board member of an energy company, with the Thekla Carola Wied since the early 1990s is married. The couple lives in Munich.

Most recently, she was part of the family comedy "You're invited of course" (ZDF) in 2018 alongside Andrea Sawatzki, Axel Milberg, Judy Winter, Eva Löbau and many more.
