The sad case raises puzzles

Crazy guy! So the first judgment about him fell out. And, a little more distant: shrill guy! There was a boy from the Lower Bavarian province, from Hutthurm near Passau, jumping like a bespectacled Monchichi puppet on the stage of the RTL show "Deutschland sucht der Superstar". Right in front of the jury headed by Dieter Bohlen (64).

In the early morning hours of September 9, he disappeared in the sea area off the Canadian coast from aboard the cruise ship AIDAluna. Did he jump? Was it an accident? The Canadian Coast Guard has stopped the search. His family still hopes for a "great miracle". The case raises puzzles.

A pop dervish inspires the nation

He was just 17 and started training as a nanny when he applied for RTL casting. A boy whose urge for more was so much stronger than the fear of the big world out there. As a singer, he wanted to compete and become a superstar. A nice, a bit cheeky guy with horn-rimmed glasses, long hair, funny eyes and a mischievous smile.

That was 15 years ago. Dieter Bohlen and his colleagues had spotted and ironed out all possible and impossible talents. But this time they were stunned by this Daniel with the funny last name, no, from the socks! He could not really sing, but he did so with a ravishing fervor. And he moved on stage like a pop-dervish someone had poured into the coffee.

The result: Third place in the first season of "DSDS" - and Germany spoke of Daniel Küblböck, as one speaks of a big star. Constantly! He was present in all media. Daniel released his first single "Drive Me Crazy" (produced by Dieter Bohlen), he gave concerts, even unplugged, he shot a commercial for a dairy, and at 18 he wrote his first autobiography "I live my notes".

He became "Brillenträger des Jahres 2003", the "Bravo" gave him a silver Otto as "second best young artist", at the New Faces Awards he was awarded the title of Best Newcomer 2003. But he must have sensed that his kind of popularity had another side, a much darker one.

The dark side of fame

It was followed by appearances in TV formats such as "Big Brother", the RTL jungle camp and the much laughed-up accident with a cucumber truck, which caused Daniel without a license and in which he was seriously injured. The young Mr. Küblböck got to feel that the notoriety he sought with all his might, also brought malice about this bizarre clown, even hatred of his androgynous appearance.

"There he sat with all the fame and mockery, the quick money and even faster hatred the day before yesterday: after a rapid summit storm deep down in the valley B-celebs like in the 'jungle camp', a fossil of the trash TV in the teenage," describes the Berliner Zeitung "Tagesspiegel" the situation of the former public favorite Daniel Küblböck.

In 2011, he was adopted by a 70-year-old millionaire in Mallorca. Daniel Küblböck became Daniel Kaiser (after his adoptive mother) and finally Daniel Kaiser-Küblböck. About his interlude as a successful businessman and investor in solar systems was always reported in the subjunctive: He claims to have earned millions. Maybe, maybe. And its marketing company "Positive Energy GmbH" was deleted 2013 in the commercial register. Participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 was rejected by the jury of the NDR.

He tried an image change. Short hair, no glasses anymore, serious acting education. The big career push did not come. Has Daniel Küblböck failed on the dark side of his popularity? Or did he lose himself in a self-image that he expected from his audience undivided and unconditional sympathy?

A constant gauntlet

Olivia Jones (48), the country's most famous travesty artist, has known Küblböck for many years. "He was a friend of mine and a happy person, but he was also bullied all his life, polarized even more than me," says the Hamburg neighborhood queen of the "world". What Küblböck experienced was bad - a constant gauntlet. "He was abused and laughed at, bullying destroys many people, because not everyone is as strong as me," says Jones.

Also Daniel Küblböck spoke often of bullying against him, most recently in his acting education at the European Theater Institute in Berlin (ETI). He is in early August in a Facebook posting have raised serious allegations against his classmates and the head of the school: "This months of bullying at my school in my class has shaken me deeply in my soul," quoted various media from the now deleted post ,

An only now known Instagram account provides for more question marks. On the unverified Instagram account with the name rosa_luxem, which was only created on 2 September, Küblböck seems to have taken pictures of himself online during the cruise. Among other things, there are snapshots from Iceland and several selfies that make up Küblböck and show her with women's clothes. The selfies were also garnished among others with the hashtags "#transformation", "#transsexuals" and "#aida".

Has nobody noticed how desperate the weird bird really was? Did not the famous miracle of yesteryear share this pain with him? Or was it a tragic accident?
