The Expose Project - That's what real beauty looks like
Showing women's bodies the way they really are - that's what the successful "Nu Project" by Katy Kessler and Matt Blum was all about. The two American photographers Liora K and Jes Baker are also committed to the natural beauty women of all ages and document this in their photography project "The Expose Project".
Stretch marks? Cellulite? Hanging breasts? A wrinkled back? In the smooth-ironed media landscape unfortunately largely unthinkable. Liora K and Jes Baker, on the other hand, celebrate every natural curve of the body and show strong women who are bursting with self-confidence.
"Only to show what has been" perfected "at a later stage will harm us and eventually bring about a society that is chronically disappointed in itself, and that does not honor one's own individual beauty," artist Liora K says on her blog. what we see (or what we do not see) makes us believe that we are the only ones walking around with stretch marks, our uneven breasts, our scarred legs, our orange peel, our asymmetrical nipples, the shape of our belly, the shape of our stomach. We just do not notice the unique and magical beauty of our body. "
A total of 98 women were photographed in Tucson, Arizona and felt visibly well in front of the camera. Whether thin or thick, whether white or black, whether in a wheelchair or on high heels - they exude pure joie de vivre. With the impressive project, Liora K and Jes Baker advocate for greater diversity in the media and acceptance of their own bodies. Or, as the two say, "When we feel alone with our bodies, we think we are not enough, the answer is, we are MORE than enough, and we are not alone."
