"The Divine Order" - You MUST SEE THIS MOVIE!

Okay, the movie title contains two things that I can not deal with so much: order and God. In addition, the film plays in Switzerland, in the village and before my birth. So I did not think that "The divine order" touches me particularly. But then I suddenly sit in the cinema howling and do not know how it happens to me.

Title hero Nora - cramming at the stove?

At first, the film was as expected: strange. The shoes, the skirt, the headscarf? Main character Nora is just this little house at the stove folding bed sheets, peeling potatoes and unsolicited the father in law takes the empty beer bottle and brings him a new one.

This woman wants freedom!

You already suspect, when Nora rushes through the Swiss mountain landscape by bike? this woman loves freedom. And so it turns that she is the good housewife leader of the village women's rights movement and touched not only the women in the village, but also the audience.

This is about the self-determination of the woman

Above all, Nora's movement fights for women to vote? in Switzerland, women did not have the right to vote at national level until 7 February 1971. And just like in Germany, married women were allowed to work in Switzerland in 1971 only if the husband allowed it (in Germany this law was changed in 1977).

Why do you have to howl?

Honestly, maybe it was just the hormones for me. Or I was tired. But this one scene where Nora is at a demo in Zurich and everyone calls "Women's rights are human rights!" has broken something in me.

It was this realization: For centuries, women played second fiddle. My grandma had no choice how to shape her life. Women got married, children were born and looked after the household.

I knew that, of course, but during the movie I also felt it.

And so it was justified at that time:

"It is a privilege to devote oneself entirely to the family, women are also able, without vote, to enforce the voice of the heart, this gender equality is a sin against nature, women in politics are simply against the divine order . "

Nora tries to argue against "the divine order" at the village assembly.

Are you crazy?

What if I do not believe in God? What if I have no knack for parenting? Would I have been born a generation earlier? I would have been fucked.

Now we live today. Everything good - right?

In many parts of the world (see Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria ...), women today are just as disadvantaged as women in our history. In the big business enterprises, on the stock market, in the parliaments? What is the proportion of women in positions of power? I do not even want to start from the self-optimizing pressure of the female sex.

It's no secret: we still do not live in an equal world. How should we break up a century-long tradition within one to two generations? We have made progress and enjoy freedoms that women could not even dream of 100 years ago. I firmly believe that we will continue along this path.

Maybe then in 50 years, people will be sitting in the cinema and remembering our time, when a woman as Chancellor was something special.
