Product of the Week: "Idyll"

"Idyll" by Guerlain

Expect great things from a traditional French perfume house. Great and elegant. No summer scent, which bears the name of a starlet and the next moment has disappeared from the skin of a teenager. No, you can expect a new classic with the duration of a Chanel No5. We were particularly excited about the new women's fragrance by Guerlain's chief perfumer Thierry Wasser, who succeeded Jean-Paul Guerlain in June 2008. "Idyll" is the name of his work, it should be like all perfumes of Guerlain a fragrance of love. Classic ingredient in this case: the rose.

She plays a central role in all Guerlain perfumes. The prelude is a mixture of high-quality essences of Bulgarian roses and an old-style rose, the Rose du Plessis Robinson, with its fruity scents and powerful aroma. This rose component has been combined with a legendary Guerlain brand name: a chypre note of patchouli and warm white musk. In addition, lilies of the valley, lilacs, peony, freesia and jasmine were chosen, which harmonize with the rose.

So perfect for flower lovers. But "Idyll" is not a typical rose fragrance that exudes the dusty charm of a ladies tea party. On the contrary. The scent looks fresh and lively, quite acceptable for younger women. And very elegant. Conclusion: great success, expectations fulfilled!

Idyll of Guerlain, from October 2009, Eau de Parfum Spray, 35 ml about 59 euros, 50 ml about 80 euros, 100 ml about 116 euros; www.guerlain.com
