Menstruation is expensive luxury? says our tax law

We have said it several times: our current Bundestag is, as far as the representation of women is concerned, an absolute disaster. Thank AfD, CDU and FDP.

Therefore, it is even more important that we also be active from the outside and claim justice wherever possible - and fortunately we can "get active" with just a few clicks.

For example, we can support the #BloodyLuxuryTax campaign petition, and at best, share and distribute it further. Because it's just not fair that we need higher taxes on sanitary napkins than on toilet paper, because any Vollhorst sanitary napkins are a luxury item!

Movie tickets are considered vital, tampons as a luxury

For vegetables, meat and toilet paper we pay 7 percent VAT? because they are essential products that every human needs. The same is obviously true for coffee (absolutely essential!), Movie tickets (hmmm ...) and hotel rooms (well, can ever be essential).

For luxury goods such as restaurant visits, goldfish and juice, we pay 19 percent? as well as for tampons, pads and menstrual cups (you have never heard of menstrual cups, you will learn more here).

Granted, there are other products that are nonsensically classified. For example, children's biscuits are taxed at 19, dog biscuits only at 7 percent. Likewise, the state beats horses only 7, but Goldfish 19 percent, as Focus reports.

Should we just let it run, or what?

But that does not change the fact that it's unjust and wrong to tax bandages at 19, but toilet paper at only 7 percent. What is the legislator thinking of classifying tampons as luxury items? Should we just let it go when it's time or what?

In no other country do women pay such high taxes on hygiene items for their menstruation as ours. Only Sweden asks 25 percent even more drastically to checkout.

Unfair taxation costs us at least one fat trip - but even more is about the principle!

On average, in the course of our lives, we pay about 2,000 euros in taxes alone on hygiene items that we need because of our period. Okay, that may not be the world to everyone, but we could at least make a fat journey in our lives or afford a lousy laptop.

But basically it's not about the money, but about the principle: We do not bleed because we find it so cool, but because it belongs to our natural cycle, which makes us fertile, gives birth to children and the payer secures the pension system ( now quite silly and flat formulated).

That's why Campaign #BloodyLuxuryTax wants to finally fix this obvious flaw in our tax code. But she needs our support!

Here you can support the campaign.
