Keep or throw away? 3 questions that make the decision easier

Cleaning up and emptying out is not easy, because we constantly have to make decisions. Do I still need that? Can that go? Should I give it away or donate? Will I regret it if I give it away now? Making decisions is really not easy - especially when it comes to furniture and furnishings that have been with us for a long time. Filling up the apartment with ballast is also not a real alternative. To make the decision (and separation) easier the next time, just ask these three questions:

1. Do I really need that?

Which means: Do I have the item maybe twice? Do I have another piece of furniture that fulfills the same function? Why do I want to keep the item? Or am I not really attached to it? When you realize for a while that you do not know anymore, why something has moved in and if you need it, this is a good time to break up.

2. Do I have the space for it?

Meaning: Is the piece of furniture or the object in the way? Have I often wondered what it would be like without this huge part in my apartment? Would I like to use the place for something else? And would it be better for someone else in the apartment than me? If you have answered all these questions with "yes", then you may say goodbye now. Because obviously the relationship between you is not so close.

3. Do I really want to keep it?

Meaning: What is the reason why furniture X or object Y is in your apartment? Is it an heirloom? The favorite furniture of the partner? Anyone who keeps something only from felt obligation has no real fun. Maybe someone will find it more enjoyable. In this case we say: Bye, bye!
