Jussie Smollett: He has to answer in 16 charges in court

Jussie Smollett (36) has to answer in court. As reported among others "CNN" and other media agree, the "Empire" actor several charges are accused. According to a grand jury in the district Cook County filed on Friday charge in 16 points. Smollett is accused of inventing a racist and homophobic attack against him. In the process, he now has to answer for false statements to the authorities. On March 14, the actor must appear in court.

From the victim to the perpetrator?

Smollett had caused a sensation on Jan. 29 when he claimed to have been attacked, beaten, and humiliated by two unknown men. A week earlier, he had also received a threatening letter to his workplace, 20th Century Fox. However, as the police and the prosecutor wanted to find out, the whole thing should have been faked by the actor himself. The attackers were two brothers of him, the letter he wrote himself.



The story of the supposedly fake attack has already had an effect on the series "Empire" in which he participates. So the Fox station has decided to delete Smollett's role Jamal from the remaining two episodes of the current fifth season, reported the US side "TMZ" in late February. The 36-year-old played since 2015 in the musical television series the part of Jamal Lyon.
