Marina, 25, works in Dublin

What exactly is she doing there? Marina is Meeting & Event Coordinator at the four-star Hotel Clarion. She organizes events and conferences and also looks after customer service and press relations.

What you especially like there: "In Ireland, the chances of promotion are better than in Germany," says Marina. "And the salary is higher than at home." The colleagues meet her respectfully, fair and friendly and the bosses trust her a lot. What she particularly likes: the international flair and the different mentalities of her foreign colleagues and customers.

What annoys her there: Sometimes it disturbs the punctuality of the locals.

Your tip: Keep up! "Even if you do not like everything at the beginning and many things are alien, you should not give up! Sooner or later you feel really comfortable in the new job and everyday life!"

That's how she got the job: She has turned to the >> "Zihoga". This is the foreign placement for hotel staff of the Federal Employment Agency.

Désirée, 25, works in Luxembourg

What exactly is she doing there? Désirée works at Ernst & Young, a tax audit firm.

What you especially like there: Bilingualism: French and German spoken in her office. Even if it was difficult in the beginning: "Meanwhile, I have no problems switching back and forth between German and French, which is really a big plus." In addition, she has become more open - is faster to people and likes to try something new. Which of course is quite nice: Because of the French background, the work starts in the morning later. And by the way, it also has financial benefits. Thanks to her company in Luxembourg, she is cheaper and better insured than many of her colleagues in Germany.

What annoys her there: That sometimes she has to work under enormous time pressure - "But this is probably everywhere and has nothing to do with working abroad," she says.

Your tip: Anyone who is wanderlust and wants to make new experiences should definitely live and work abroad for a while. "You experience things that would never have happened at home."

That's how she got the job: By a fellow student. He told them that the company had vacancies.

Christina, 26, worked in Vienna

What she did there exactly: Christina worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna for three years - in the conference area: "I planned and organized everything - from the invitation to the clean-up after the end of the conference."

What you especially liked there: The cooperation with people from different nations. People from 25 countries sometimes came to the conferences "I have learned to find my bearings in foreign cultures," she explains.

What annoyed her there: The hierarchical differences between the employees and the competitiveness. "Sometimes the competition between the employees was just too much for me!"

Your tip: It warns girls against placing too high and unrealistic expectations of employment outside Germany. On the other hand, she encourages her to move abroad - "These experiences strengthen the personality for a lifetime," says Christina.

That's how she got the job: Through an unsolicited application: "I just sent my resume."
